The Eyes of God

Image
When I was a child, I felt very uncomfortable when someone would make me look at them in the eyes. Growing up there were some people who often looked at me with disgust and there would be so much anger in their eyes. Their eyes, their words, and their facial expressions made me feel like I was a bad person, and I became very observant of people's body language. I always tried to look for signs that I said something wrong, usually first noticing how their eyes would look.  Earlier this past week, I was doing a worship night where I drew a picture while worship music was on. I thought of it being the Eyes of God. I realized I only drew one eye, but I imagined that there were seven eyes like what is described in the book of Revelation. I imagined the seven eyes on the Lamb of God as described in Revelation 5. I imagined each eye looking similar to the one that I drew. Of course, I don't have an exact picture of what the Lord's eyes would look like, but I was drawing during a w...

Making Disciples of all Nations

We have been told to go and make disciples of all nations. I think of disciple-making and being discipled in four ways: prayer, preparation, dedication, and growing in our relationship with Jesus. All of these require God, who can use us to plant discipleship seeds. God can use us in our everyday lives as the Bible does tell us to go out and make disciples of all nations. Discipleship is more than just checking a box, it is a lifetime of laying our lives down, picking up our cross, and following Jesus.       Prayer is super essential in the everyday. I think evangelism can't happen without the Lord, and our hearts must be connected to him. We connect to God through prayer and praise. Prayer for ministries as well as our own life is important in sharing the love of Jesus with those around us. I will pray over my church as well as the different ministries I have learned about. I pray for the leaders, for the people they come in contact with, and that the ...

The Gospel is For Everyone

As humans, we tend to want so badly to be right. We want so badly for our points of argument to be right because in always being in the right, we feel like there is value. I see this in arguments so much where people are so stuck on one point where they refuse to look at the other side of the argument.       I was entering a Christian school for the first time ever going into college. I was learning about God already through my reading of scripture. However, I learned of God much more during my freshman year. I came to know the true gospel. It wasn’t that Jesus came to save the good enough Christians who went to church, volunteered, and read their bibles sometimes; it was that Jesus came to earth to die on the cross for the world and whoever believes in him has eternal life.       There were things I believed growing up, and probably even now, that are wrong. I read scripture with the open mind that I am not going to change the...

Rediscovering Joy!

Image
Joy is not always easy to see. There are times and situations where we don't necessarily see the joy in our lives. It is important to remember that there is joy in all things, but we may not necessarily see joy in all things. It is when we walk by faith that we experience true joy because the sight might be darkness in certain situations; our faith in the Lord is faith in something that is never changing and has power over all darkness in this world. The Lord brings hope to even the most hopeless of situations.          I am someone who can be incredibly sensitive when it comes to my present situation. It is something I have struggled with in being weighed down by my circumstances that are hard. It is something where I have had to learn how to regulate myself and ground myself in the truth: the Lord is sovereign over all circumstances.    Sophomore Year Slump     I felt like it was more than just a slum...
